Westermolen Lembeke

Description, aims and activities

Our windmill, a postmill, is located in Lembeke, a small village in the East of Flanders.
The windmill has been built in 1780 and meanwhile several restorations took place. The last restoration has been done in 2016.  In 1973 our village Lembeke became owner off the windmill. The last private owner was Count Gonzales-Marie d’Alcantara. In Lembeke you find also the headquarters from Lotus Bakeries, the famous biscuit factory.

We are 6 millers ; Erik Caeckaert, Dirk Raman, Jan Ginneberge, Matthias De Meyer, Geert Van Der Heyden and Dirk Thienpont.
Erik and Dirk Raman are the « Head Millers », Jan, Matthias, Geert and Dirk Thienpont are in training to become a head miller.
Our principal activity is to mill wheat to make bread.
The wheat is from a local farmer. We sell the flour in paper bags from 2 kg.
