The annual AIA Conference

takes place at the University of Nottingham.

The weekend will commence with a seminar on the Friday :
‘Steaming Ahead: research strategies and research frameworks in Industrial Archaeology’, which will compare current approaches to research strategies in industrial archaeology in England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland

The formal conference will commence on Friday evening, with a lecture on the East Midlands by our Hon. President, Prof. Marilyn Palmer MBE.
Saturday will begin with four lectures on local IA in the morning followed, after lunch, by the presentations of and to the award winners. As is usual there will be an opportunity for members to make short contributions.
On Sunday morning the AGM will be followed by the annual Rolt Lecture being given by Geoffrey Stell of the University of Edinburgh entitled ‘Science and Engineering at War: Scapa Flow, 1939-45’.
On Sunday afternoon, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday morning there will be a choice of coach trips to sites of IA interest.
